Arad expands presence in Indian water metering market

Arad Group has won two tenders worth $18 million to supply remote water metering systems to Indian utility Delhi Jal Board (DJB), further expanding its presence in the fast growing Indian market.

DJB, which is responsible for water management in New Delhi, chose Arad solutions after a long process, which included a pilot project and a series of field tests. Arad won the tenders through its subsidiary Arad Technologies, together with local partner SPML Infra ltd.

“Winning the two DJB deals is another step towards turning Arad into a leading player in the fast-growing Indian market,” said Gabi Yankovitz, CEO of Arad Group. “By using our advanced AMR solutions, DJB will receive real-time alerts on water leakages and will benefit from automated water reading of inaccessible water meters with no intrusion or interference with end customers, allowing it to serve the public with fair, efficient and effective billing.”

Arad’s solutions enable remote data collection from inaccessible water meters

The first tender is for the supply of advanced meter reading (AMR) Drive By automated systems. The $16.5 million project includes the supply of 180,000 durable Multi Jet water meters, especially designed by Arad to assure long-term operation in the unique water supply conditions of the Indian market.

The second tender includes the supply of 2,800 bulk water meters equipped with Dialog Cellular, an AMR system providing a perfect solution for remote data collection from remote locations.

Arad has been present in the Indian market since 2007 through a tie-up with Mumbai-based Technochem Agencies (Bombay) Pvt Ltd. The company has received, in 2010, two large orders for the supply of automated meter reading (AMR) systems to large Indian water infrastructure companies at a total value of $7.3 million. The tender, for the supply of 150,000 water meters, was issued by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM).
